Game Review: Catastrophe by Padoju

REVIEWED BY: Aldous Kim A. Agati

Catastrophe is a board game that has action point allowance as it's main mechanic. The players will play as stranded castaways in an island full of deadly animals. In order to win the players must scout and acquire all the resources they could find, avoid deadly animals and look for the missing plane pieces before the tsunami comes.

As for the game mechanic, using action point allowance made the game more exciting. It has a thrill factor whenever you go from tile to tile. The only thing i didn't like about was appearance of the wild animals. Some of them look the same. Other than that the game runs smoothly.

As for the game components, they are great but still have room for improvements. The plane puzzle pieces are great. The tiles are perfectly organized. The board, however, is the downfall. It look quite messy and disarranged. They could try adding a little color onto the components for additional fun.

Overall, Catastrophe is a great game to be played with friends and families, especially when you are all bored. The game however is not appropriate for kids because they might not get the mechanics. I would rate Catastrophe a 3 out of 5 stars.
